Roy Arnell is a master titanium machinist. I look at most other titanium jewelers web sites and I know exactly how their rings are being made. With the Titanium Workshop's pieces it doesn't take me very long to figure out the process, but the detail in design and the number of individual steps taken sets Roy's work apart from the crowd.

As good as the Titanium Workshop is, I don't see them as a direct competitor. Our products and services are different. They offer many wonderful designs which make use of repetitive patterns or machined engraving. Those are processes best done with a CNC (Computer Numeric Control) machine. They specialize in such work, and anybody who's taken a look at their site knows they do an excellent job of it. In contrast, I do most of my finish work with hand files. I don't have the accuracy to make repetitive designs as only a computer controlled machine could. On the other hand, with a few quick strokes of a file I can create complex curves that would take hours of programming.

I get all kinds of requests from customers. Some of those requests involve pieces which places like the Titanium Workshop are far better suited to make. I don't like turning away the business, but it's kinda like going to the bakery for an oil change. Just like the baker (with the rather confused look on his face) who points you to the garage around the corner, I have no problem pointing you in the right direction when I'm not the best shop for the job. Just let them know who sent you.
